Newspaper Discussion Group

The objective of this group is to have evidence-based discussion of topical aspects of economics, current affairs, and politics. Discussions will typically be inspired and informed by substantial articles in the Economist, Spectator and New Statesman weekly newspapers, and the Guardian/Observer, Times and Financial Times daily papers.

Each member will be requested to bring along to each meeting a recent copy of one of the above publications and make a brief presentation on the contents of one or more articles from that newspaper. These will then be subject to general discussion taking any opportunity to compare and contrast the different treatments by the newspapers. All discussions will be conducted with respect for the views of others and in a spirit of seeking enlightenment.

The group will meet on the second Tuesday of the month, in the Quaker Meeting House, beginning on 11th November 2025, and running for the next six months.
