Jazz Cub meetings are on the fourth Tuesday of the month in the Yarrow Room (Town Hall), at 2pm. A glimpse of the trad phenomenon and the annual session of obituaries of artists lost in the last year will be in the Spring 2026 line-up.
The Jazz Club has a relaxed atmosphere where members can get to know each other as friends. Some members are already knowledgeable about jazz and all are encouraged to share their enthusiasms.
Films or illustrated talks help people to hear and enjoy a wider range of music. In our monthly Tuesday afternoon meetings, a member presents the session, which might include a video or talk and recordings on a theme.
In 2020, we started a Desert Island Choices series for members to talk about the jazz music that had provided a soundtrack for their lives. Members are also encouraged to introduce video or audio recordings and may talk about the piece they are playing. We have also invited jazz musicians to talk about and play their music.
There is a monthly e-newsletter telling people what to expect for the next meeting. We also try to alert members to jazz events in the area and publicise ways of accessing broadcast jazz and sources of jazz online.
New members are welcome.
